Step inside our restaurant
The building has had a few lives before this one.
It started as a boat house on the canal, became a fruit market, then a bar, and now we are proud to call it our own.
Two floors of restaurant seating with stone walls, ceiling beams, rich wood floors, leather booths, and a long timber bar that’s perfect for a glass of something while you wait.
Large arched windows look out over the canal and lock, and when the weather’s right, our paved terrace is open for al fresco dining.
Dogs are welcome outside too, so bring the whole family along.
Inside, you can sneak a peek to see the chefs at work through the open kitchen window or warm up by the wood-burning stove.

Our story
Gambero Rosso has been serving Italian food on this stretch of canal for over 15 years.
Our name means ‘red prawn’ in Italian, after one of Sicily’s most prized ingredients, and that tells you something about where our heart lies. We’re an authentic Italian restaurant built around good food, good wine, and the kind of evening you spend in great company.
As Gambero Rosso’s lucky owners, we’ve been part of this place for years. First as regulars, and when the opportunity came to take it on, we didn’t hesitate.
The familiar faces are still here, the food you love hasn’t changed, and the warmth that made this place special from the beginning is very much alive.
